Your body needs some sodium to function properly because it:
§ Helps maintain the right balance of fluids in your body
§ Helps transmit nerve impulses
§ Influences the contraction and relaxation of muscles
Your kidneys naturally balance the amount of sodium stored in your body for optimal health. When your sodium levels are low, your kidneys essentially hold on to the sodium. When sodium levels are high, your kidneys excrete the excess in urine.
But if for some reason your kidneys can’t eliminate enough sodium, the sodium starts to accumulate in your blood. Because sodium attracts and holds water, your blood volume increases. Increased blood volume makes your heart work harder to move more blood through your blood vessels, which increases pressure in your arteries. Such diseases as congestive heart failure, cirrhosis and chronic kidney disease can make it hard for your kidneys to keep sodium levels balanced.
Some people’s bodies are more sensitive to the effects of sodium than are others. If you’re sodium sensitive, you retain sodium more easily, leading to fluid retention and increased blood pressure. The extra sodium can even lead to high blood pressure, which can lead to heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and congestive heart failure Stay pumped, big, G

I always make sure I have my alkaline water with me specially for my workouts. I am using high alkaline water for two year and I have to say it is awesome. Specially my recovery and you know How important that is in bodybuilding, fitness and all other sports.
Stay pumped, Gunter
PS. Here is some info!
Alkaline water restores the pH balance in the body.
Alkaline water (also referred to as ionized water) can neutralize the acidity of the body caused by stress, modern diet, air pollution, and many bottled waters.
A higher pH in the body reduces the need for fat and cholesterol to protect the body from damaging acids.
Negatively charged hydroxyl ions, (OH -) found in abundance in alkaline water, act as natural antioxidants and donate electrons, neutralizing harmful free radicals.
Alkaline water tastes lighter with a pleasantly sweet flavor.
Improves the body’s absorption of essential nutrients
Improves body function by cleaning your cells from the inside out.
Using water with a higher pH level improves the taste of beverages and food.Cooking with alkaline water improves the taste and quality of foods and using acidic
water when boiling eggs improves their quality.
Provides superior hydration and nutrition at the cellular level.
Ionization breaks clusters of water molecules into smaller micro-clusters, reducing the size of the clusters from the 11-16 molecules in standard water to just 5-6 molecules in ionized water. Smaller clusters pass through cell walls more easily and hydrate the cells more quickly.
Faster hydration allows the body to regulate its temperature more efficiently.
Micro-clusters of mineral-bearing ionized water also deliver nutrients more efficiently to the cells
Detoxifies cells more efficiently than standard drinking water.
Due to their smaller size, micro-clusters of ionized water molecules are expelled from the cells more efficiently, carrying damaging toxins out of the cells and flushing them out of the system.
The negative charge of ionized alkaline water will attract the positive ions of acids and neutralize them within the body.

I am glad the Holidays are over. With family in town it was really difficult to stay on my workout and nutrition plan. Yes, even I had to let it lose for a little bit.
All that good food, mmmh yummy! Can’t wait to go crazy in the Gym again.
I decided not to do the Arnolds because of my crazy travel schedule after the Mr. O.
I just could not make enough time to focus just on competition preparation, but I hope it will happen in the near future. Gave my body some rest and some easy workouts over the last couple weeks. I felt burned out and thought a couple of weeks taking it easy will help the body to refresh and respond better when I get serious again. Somebody told me ones, “To get in shape, you have to get sometimes out of shape”. What I believe is true!
At this time a year a lot of people get a cold I can recommend to take some ZMA and Glutamine. I think these are the best supplements to boost energy and immune system. I take SAN’s ZMA and Glutamine for a long time and people around me and even my own family catching colds. I just don’t catch anything.
I recommend SAN’s ZMA and Glutamine supplement for every day, half an hour before bedtime on an empty stomach. And make sure that you don’t take any Calcium with it. Zink and Calcium don’t work together.
My best, Gunter

It was a crazy month. First going to Costa Rica to the Awesomenessfest. It was really awesome. I had a hard time getting good workouts and had to improvise with lighter dumbbells and simple equipment. When I run into that problem I do a lot of super sets, high reps and go back and forth between two muscle groups just to keep the intensity high. At the end it comes always down to break Muscle tissue down. Its not always depending on how much weight you use, that is always only in our heads. Actually I found that it is quite good for your body to have a change in your workouts for a week or so. And it definitely helps to maintain your shape if not it even improves your shape.
Costa Rica was amazing. The people were so nice, now I know why they say in Costa Rica live the happiest people in the world. The event in Costa Rica was totally a networking event and my wife Kim and I met so many awesome people to network and maybe have even future business opportunities with.
After coming back from Costa Rica I was one day home and than off to Sweden for a Fitness Festival. At the expo there was a Bodybuilding and a Strongman competition.
I signed a lot of autographed pictures and took a lot of pictures. This show definitely has a lot of potential for the future.
For my trips I brought some of my San supplements:1) I needed Launch to get me going doing these trips,
2)Whey Isolate and Myotein protein 3)Lipidex oils and of course 4)Glutamine for my immune system.
All my best,

I am so glad that we have good Sports nutrition. After Russia I had to do some more traveling and I have to tell you my diet sucked. Finding healthy food on the road isn’t easy. Definitely if you are used to eat 6 meals a day. I always can find a gym but even staying on my training schedule was difficult. When you have travel days and arriving late at the Hotel can through you off, for sure your energy level. That’s why I always pack my Protein powder and energy drinks from San in my carry on backs. With out them I would be only half my size right now or I would live on fast food and would look like a bowling ball. I had to do a Photoshoot after I got back from a trip. It was a shoot for Muscle and Performance Magazine. The Article and Cover will be in the March issue.
Without good nutritional products I would have not be able to get in the shape I wanted to be in for the shoot. I am glad that today’s product and quality is so good that you get and see great results. It makes bodybuilding and fitness a lot easier. When I did the Photoshoot I was around 280lbs and in a pretty descent shape for a Photoshoot.
Stay pumped and be back soon, Gunter

Just got back from Russia. I was there for one week for Seminars and Guest appearances. The people were awesome and so friendly. The show was great, they had between 400 and 500 hundred athletes and the quality of the athletes was unbelievable. The people were so exited and respectful and ask already if I would come back next year. I also had a little time to learn about the culture and history that was very interesting. Also learned that SAN supplements are one of the most trusted and most popular supplements over there. That was good to hear! Besides that, I don’t think that you can get ever invited to Russia without drinking Vodka and party with the host. To survive the Vodka float I made sure I had always enough Water in between and stayed hydrated that it wasn’t affecting me that much. I also spend some time with Dorian Yates and we learned a lot about each other. We definitely had fun and enjoyed Russia and the culture a lot. The best was though to see how much people love Bodybuilding.
Talk soon, big G

You all have the update about the MR.O , I am pretty sure most of you do. For me personally was it motivation. Being 4-5 hours at the booth at the MR.O EXPO was just fun. Seeing all the Fans enjoying the EXPO and meet the Athletes was just great to see. I want to thank all my fans for your support and coming by the booth. You all inspire me so much!
We also introduced at our SAN booth the new liquid formula of our product launch. Everybody needs to try this it just taste great and like I said ones earlier you be surprised how great this product is. If you need energy and focus you must try this. The feedback at the booth was outstanding and that’s how we like it.
My training is going well and my body seems to get the quality back that it use to have. There is still a long way to go where I want to be though. After 4 years now I did my first guest appearance and I have to say I still got it. The audience was crazy!
I‘ll be back,

Last couple weeks the training is getting more intense. I am up to 296lbs but still want more quality. Leg workouts is killing me. The workout is fast pace short breaks sometime super sets. After legs I can’t hardly go stairs and have to pull myself up at the railing. Sometimes I ask myself “why”, but than you know why? It is just in your blood. To get a kick I start using Fierce from SAN. It does help my energy level and it makes the workout seem easier. On top I get this incredible pump that feels like it stays. To avoid sureness I load up on SAN’s Glutamine before and after workouts. I take 10 -15gr both times. Here are some exercise I did for legs. 1)Start with warm up extensions 4 sets 10 -15reps.2) seated leg press 4 sets 15-6 reps with adding weight each sets. 3) Cybex squat machine 4 set 12- 6 reps with adding weight each set. 4) Vertical leg press 4 sets 15-6 reps with adding weight each set. 5) laying or seated leg curl 4 sets 15 -10reps.
We go through this mostly in 45min max 1 hour.
Hope to see you all at the MR. Olympia, best G

Last time I said I got an offer for a role, I did but due to budgets the movie is postponed. Right now taking it easy until August, only light workouts. My plan is to hit the gym hard and start first of August training with Charles Glass. Want to put some muscle back on until the end of the year and start dieting first of New Year and hopefully compete at the Arnolds. It all depends on an invitation for the Arnolds. I am glad I got good supplements from SAN that I put to the test already, because without that, my diet would get expensive.
Last time I calculated I was just for food around $1500 a month. Wish I could go to McDonald’s and eat 99c burgers, but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. I am excited for my adventure but not gone lie, it will be hard and I will be put to the test and I will see if I can still manage to give 110%. Not to forget I could allow to be selfish in a lot of ways (time etc.) but with a new born things look much different. All it means is I have to work twice as hard as I use too. Question is; Can I do that? I guess we will all see.
All my best and stay healthy,

Since Jake is born things are crazy. I mean we do get sleep, but we run into balancing time. Obviously I need to workout and focus on training too. So far I don’t miss any workouts and I think that keeps everything in balance. It gives you the time for you that you need for you. My wife and I work around our schedules, so that the little one has always somebody with him. I work out when the little guy is with Kim and when I am back she goes and works out. I notice it helps and makes things so easy when you are a team player, that is what relationship, is all about. To many people play the one way road and than you will get stack. The workouts are important because they keep you balanced.
On the way out of the Hospital the nurse told us that she can tell when people take care of their body with workout and nutrition. She said; they recover way faster!
Last couple weeks I was very busy. A lot of auditions and meetings. I filmed one day on the set of Mudman. I had to play a black witch. Low budget but hey it’s a start!
I got an offer to play an interesting character in another movie but more about that next time!
I’ll be back,
